Are Hilton legally responsible for bookings via their website, when a franchisee goes into administration?

Hello
I booked Doubletree Hilton Aberdeen for 5 nights staying in April 2020 costing ¬£521.50, via the main Hilton website run by Hilton¬†Worldwide Holdings Inc (HWH). The hotel owner (Ability hotel) put the hotel into administration around 21/5/20. I cancelled the booking almost 2 months before the hotel went into administration; however HWH have said I must contact the administrator or my credit card to seek a refund. When people book at Hilton.com surely they do it thinking that they have the security of booking with a major hotel chain and from a contract law perspective¬†HWH will be responsible. In fact I had no idea my payment was being sent to Ability hotels.Unfortunately no T&Cs are obvious on their website. Meantime I’m out of pocket for ¬£521.50.¬†Any thoughts would be much appreciated. All the best GR
