Winning Which? Trusted Trader of the Year is no easy feat. Our guest, this year’s winner, explains just what it means to take home the award.

Wow! Which? Trusted Trader of the Year! This is such an incredible honour and I’m so proud of the company we’ve created.
When I left school at 16, I could never have imagined accepting an award from Which?. I believe it’s the top review platform in the country.

After leaving Merrist Wood College as a Level 4 Arborist at the age of 18, I was already running teams for a local company. I soon realised that I was more than capable of running my own.
I was popular with customers and a highly capable, technical climber, so I set out on my own at the age of 20. I started out through recommendations of friends and family, and quickly acquired the equipment to start running my own team.
The story so far
It hasn’t always been easy. In fact, it’s been a long hard slog.
The thing that kept me afloat in those hard times was my loyal customer base. I’m fortunate to have been part of the brilliant Box Hill community, who are as much friends as business associates.
And it’s this relationship to our customers that we’ve sought to bring ever since. When you bring this attitude of friendship to the realm of business, even small businesses like ours, everyone wins.
It’s not so much about doing a job so much as providing a service, providing value, and enhancing the lives of others through your interactions with them.
Going the extra mile
Putting a smile on people’s faces is arguably more important to me than making a profit.
It’s why we carved a Christmas tree from the stump of a tree planted in memory of a client’s mother, it’s why we tidy up each and every garden leaving it tidier than we found it. It’s why we get involved in community initiatives and why we go the extra mile for each and every one of our customers.
And the best part is that this works for everyone. Our customers get more than they paid for, and we get more recommendations for work and more opportunities to make people happy through what we do.
That’s why we want to dedicate the Which? Trusted Trader of the Year Award to our customers, who give us a reason to set our standards high.
We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Which?, for giving them the platform to recognise our efforts.
It really does mean so much to us and gives our whole team a boost, safe in the knowledge that we’re doing business the way that businesses should be done.
