Ceri Stanaway is Head of the Which? Money Research Group, which recommends highly performing providers, shines a light on poor practice and investigates the things that matter to consumers when it comes to how they borrow, spend and invest their hard-earned money. Before joining the money team, Ceri was Which?'s telecoms and tech investigations expert, writing features and news on everything from online privacy, to how to choose the right broadband deal. Particular bugbears were the appalling quality of service from some technology service providers and the need for fairness and transparency in ever-changing markets - annoyances that sadly have transferred over all too well to the world of finance.

Comparison websites

With dozens of websites offering to help you get a better deal on your insurance and energy, I’m wondering why there’s no easy way to compare the comparison sites. (more about comparison sites...)

UK one pennies

Save the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves. That’s my response to talk of the UK following Canada and ditching the one penny coin. It may be small, but it’s perfectly formed and I don’t want to lose it. (more about one pennies...)

Pound coins with crown

When deciding whether to take out a cashback or a reward credit card, I know where my loyalties lie. But which would you prefer? A card that will pay you to shop, or one that will send you vouchers in the post? (more about cashback vs reward cards...)

Hand holding a phone

You asked us to name and shame the big companies that use expensive phone numbers and praise the ones that don’t. So we’ve done just that for banks, insurers and energy providers. (more about premium numbers...)

Gold phone with 'call now'

It should soon be free to call freephone numbers from mobiles. Not rocket science, you might think, but when it can cost as much to call an 0800 number as an 0870 one, something’s clearly in need of a shake up. (more about non-geographic call charges...)

Money falling out of jeans pocket

Predictions of an increase in consumer spending might paint a rosy picture of economic recovery, but if that comes at the cost of your savings, we need a Budget that will put money back in people's pockets. (more about a Budget for consumers...)

Barclays contactless debit card

Q: What's quick, easy and stays inside your wallet? A: A 'contactless' card. But what happens when it's too quick and easy and you end up using this payment without even choosing to? That's what happened to me… (more about contactless payments...)

iPad poster in shop window

You ask: I bought an iPad from my local Orange phone shop for £90 and agreed to pay £25 per month. I took it home, tried it out and then realised that the contract was for 24 months, which I wasn't told about. (Q&A about returning an iPad...)

Most of us visit high street shops when we’re looking for a new mobile phone deal, so we went undercover to see whether the advice they give is up to scratch. What’s your experience with mobile phone shop advice? (more about mobile phone shop advice...)

Landline phone

BT’s been in the news again. Turns out some BT customers aren’t happy with their call charges. Nothing out of the ordinary there, you might think – until you find out that the charges are for calls that aren’t even made. (more about BT's line rental...)

Three 'w' keys on typewriter

You ask: I recently changed ISP from Orange to BT and feel badly treated. I had no internet for days and their pledge of 24/7 tech support is pathetic when the line closes at 8pm! They said that I can claim, but how? (Q&A on switching ISPs...)

Mobile texting

The average mobile phone user writes the equivalent of the epic novel War and Peace every five and a half years, or so says Which? Mobile. Is that at the cost of a proper conversation? (more about texting on your mobile...)
